Terms of use
These terms govern your use of Pharos Hotel Journal (gorunexavi.com), a free publication of Torstein Rafgård. Please read them together with our legal notice. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site.
1. What Pharos is
Pharos is an editorial journal about hotels and travel. We are not a travel agency or booking platform: we don't sell rooms, flights or packages, and we don't take payments. Nothing here is an offer from any hotel, and nothing here is legal, financial, medical or other professional advice.
2. Information you should double-check
We research our pages carefully, but travel moves fast. Prices, room counts, opening seasons, journey times, weather averages, visa and entry rules, health guidance and emergency numbers can all change after we publish. Before you book or travel, confirm anything important with the hotel, the transport company or an official government source.
3. Planning tools
Our hotel matcher, distance and jet-lag calculators, budget planner, packing list and currency converter produce rough estimates to help you plan. Travel times are approximate, exchange rates come from a third-party reference feed and may lag the rate you are actually charged, and the budget planner only works with the numbers you type in.
4. Casino resorts and responsible gambling
Two of the hotels on our Top 5 page, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and Bellagio in Las Vegas, include casinos. We describe them for travelers' information only; we do not offer, operate, promote or link to any gambling service. Gambling is for adults only (18+), and both of these resorts admit only guests aged 21 and over to the gaming floor, under local law.
If gambling is no longer fun for you or someone close to you, help is available. In Spain, Jugar Bien (jugarbien.es), the responsible-gambling site of the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego, has information and a directory of support services, and FEJAR, the Spanish federation of rehabilitated gamblers' associations, runs a free helpline on 900 200 225. In Singapore, the National Council on Problem Gambling helpline is 1800-6-668-668; in the United States, call 1-800-GAMBLER. Elsewhere, contact your local support service.
5. Other people's names and websites
Names of hotels, companies and awards belong to their owners and appear only to identify what we write about. Mentioning them does not imply any partnership or endorsement. Links to other websites are there for convenience; we are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
6. Our content
The writing, illustrations, maps and design of Pharos belong to Torstein Rafgård. You are welcome to share links and to quote short passages with credit to Pharos Hotel Journal. Please ask us in writing before reproducing longer extracts or any illustration.
7. Liability
We provide the site free of charge and as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that result from relying on its content or from the site being temporarily unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
8. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page, with the date shown at the top, is the one that applies.
9. Governing law and consumer rights
These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. If you use the site as a consumer resident in the European Union, you also keep every protection that the mandatory law of your country of residence gives you, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of the place where you live.
